Canada Gifts Governor Gavin Newsom a Boeing 747 — Newsom Promises No Gold Paint, Just Solar Panels and Bike Racks
Sacramento, CA — In an unprecedented act of international friendship, the government of Canada has officially gifted California Governor Gavin Newsom a fully operational Boeing 747.
While some leaders in recent memory have been known to repaint their planes in garish shades of gold, Governor Newsom has assured Californians that he has no such plans.
"We’re not turning this bird into a flying casino," Newsom told reporters. "We’re going green. Literally. Bike racks on the wings, a rooftop solar array, and cupholders big enough for a venti oat milk latte. This is the future of aviation."
According to insiders, the 747 will be retrofitted with compost bins, EV charging ports at every seat, and a state-of-the-art wine cellar stocked exclusively with Napa Valley vintages.
Canadian officials explained their decision in a brief statement: "Honestly, Gavin kept borrowing half the West Coast to carpool up here. We figured it was cheaper to just give him the plane."
The Governor plans to debut the aircraft at Burning Man, before putting it into “serious service” for regular recycling runs and emergency wine tastings.
